Southside Thug

Not long ago I had an idea for a thuggish type of character.  Something like a video game lackey.  I completed a few sketches but they were going nowhere.  This chap came out of a “ZBrush Materials” exercise, and became the bad guy that I wanted to sculpt.  Over a few nights I managed to get him to this point.  He still needs a lot of work, but it’s always fun to post a work in progress.

What? Not Another Pig!

Ok I have to admit I do like cartoon pigs. They are fun to draw, but the recent pig motif on this blog is just pure coincidence.  I work on a lot of different things at the same time just to mix things up, but sometimes a project gets finished faster.  This idea is an old one but just happened to get completed faster when I realized what I wanted to do with it.  I laughed when I noticed that I was posting yet another pig. I found this while browsing my older sketches and immediately wanted to put the character into this warm setting. I redid the original pencil sketch in Illustrator and moved it into Photoshop for painting (about 4 hours – start to finish).  Is he a bad piggy?  I leave that entirely up to you.

What's Shakin' Bakin'

I updated to version 1.42 of ZBrush without a hitch, right through the plug-in menu.  I hope all their future updates go that easy. I am taking a break from painting, and also avoiding to fix a code bug that’s been killing me on my Crazy Hearts game, by doing this speed sculpt.  I found something like it in my sketchbook but it was too ugly to post, so I am sharing just the ZBrush work.  I figure if I avoid fixing the code in my game, it will magically fix itself. Yeah right...
